ECCC Aftermath

Whew! Two comic conventions is less than a month.
I don't know how Technogreek does it all the time.

Anyway, I have lots of cool stories to tell you about and even some new artwork to showoff.
I'm still recuperating from running around the floor all weekend so I'll just list a few hilights and some pictures, but later I promise to give more in depth info from the show.

This was was a banner year for adding to my 'self-portrait sketch' collection. I was able to add pieces from Phil Noto, Eric Powell and Tim Sale. I've been trying to get these the last few times they came out to the show but never was able to. Well, this year I scored mightily.
I also got a few others which I'm equally proud of, but more on that later.
Well...okay. Here's Colleen Coover with her sketch for me:

I like to try and support new and independent artists, so this year I picked up a couple of new books. I'm planning to post a review with links as soon as I finish them, so stay tuned.

One of the very cool things that happened was I met several of the Suicide Girls at the show. I have a bit of a soft spot (well, maybe 'soft' isn't quite right...) for Goth hotties, but I'll admit to being a bit apprehensive about having them at the convention. (It is a family-oriented show, afterall!)
Anway, it turned out that they were all very sweet and I even managed to get a brief interview with them. I also picked up their first book which they all signed for me and then posed with:

Daniel Logan was there and just as much of a flirt with all the women as he was in Calgary, and also just as friendly with everyone who stopped by to say hi to him.

One regret (not a bad one, though) is that I never got a chance to meet Wil Wheaton. I did get him water and delivered a couple of messages for him but I was hoping to actually get to have a conversation with him. Oh well. He was a superb media guest and I'm sure we'll have him back again.

I got a cute picture of Eric Powell and his girlfriend while they were at the show.
They were very nice.

And I managed to pick up another Fuglees CD from Andy Kuhn at the show. It is every bit as awesome as the last one I got. Andy said they've been working on their third album, so I'll be getting it when it comes out.
If you enjoy independent muscians with original, quirky songs (i.e. Presidents of the United States, etc...) then do yourself a favor and buy their CDs.

That's all for now.
I'll post more about the show later after I've gotten a little more rested up from all of it.
If you attended and have a good story, please leave a comment.

Also, be sure to take the survey so we can get your opinion on how to make it better (or keep it just as awesome) for next year.

Gah! I hurt like a son-of-a... It's two days later and my lower legs still ache.

I'm a little sad that I didn't take any pictures while there. But it was so crazy I don't know when I'd have time. And I'm positive someone took some at the panels and the costume contest.

I totally didn't make it to the costume contest. I wish I had.
Ren got a few, you can find the link on the Comic Stop blog in the comments for the "ECCC" post.

Yeah... I'm still sore!

My blisters have blisters. It's sad...times like this make me realize just how old I'm getting. My recovery time isn't what it used to be.

If you missed the costume contest then you missed the almost naked underwear guys and the smell of burning chest hair. Next time Ren asks me to be the stage spotter, I'll have to reconsider.
