It was on this day, 89 years ago, that American women finally were able to vote equally with men.
Thanks to the tireless work of the Suffragettes, Congress passed the 19th Amendment on August 18th granting women from the age of 18 years on up the right to vote.
It became a law and was added to the Constitution on August 26th.
